Winter Storm advisory for this coming Sat-Monday across most of North Carolina, please monitor your propane tank levels & forecasts closely and be prepared for possible ice storm & power loss.
For more information on how to prepare for dangerous winter weather and ice storms (VISIT HERE) .
Make sure you have battery backup, smoke & carbon monoxide detectors, water, medicines, bread, milk, blankets, batteries, and candles!
Predicting icy weather in NC is always a challenge and subject to rapid change. Current forecasts are calling for everything ranging from a foot of snow, just cold rain, sleet, or up to an inch of freezing rain, which is considered a catastrophic storm!
Let's hope this will not be like the ice storms twenty years ago that knocked out power for weeks in some areas of NC.
Put in plenty of lead time on your propane orders, and you may order anytime your tank is under 60% (40% for 120 tanks). You should order going under 40%. Don't let your tank get near 20% without a new order, and if your tank goes below 15% while waiting for resupply, try to conserve and contact us by email or phone if possible.
Our delivery crews are working overtime and driving as much as the law allows, filling your orders. We are going to fill every current order we can by Sat eve when the ice starts. Propane companies will ground their delivery fleets in areas deemed to be unsafe for the trucks to travel.
Make sure your fire logs and standby generators are in safe and working condition and have backup heating and lighting plans.
The icy weather predicted this Sat-Monday is forecast to be followed by extreme arctic air with lows in the teens and then even more possible frozen precipitation next week.
If you have a current propane order in with us and your tank starts to go below 15% before the delivery arrives, try to conserve and notify us by email or phone immediately.
I will be working through the weekend, fielding your calls and emails and assisting any way I can.
Please be prepared for any weather outcome, including possible extended power outages and unsafe roads. Make sure you have candles, bread, and milk (A winter tradition since the great blizzard of 1978)
Stay warm and safe, and stay ahead on propane orders, as every propane company is being swamped with delivery requests at this time.
